 I am the Jade-emperor, I am also known as Yu-Huang, Yu-Huang-Shangdi, Yu-Huang-Shang-Ti, Tian-Gong and Tien-Kung.
I am often portrayed with long, black hair, wearing a long robe and sitting on a throne.I am the son of the King of the Pure Felicity Kingdom of Lofty Heavenly Majestic Lights. My mother was the Empress of Precious Moonlight. I live with my wife, the Jade Empress, Mazu. My daughter and nephew also live with me, Shi Quning and Yang Shen. Shi Quning can determine who a person will marry, and Yang Shen is also known as the Second Lord of Quality.
I created the Universe, and rule from Heaven. I also determine which of my subjects receive good fortune and happiness, and who should be punished for their wrongdoings. I am a good symbol for many Chinese religions.
Some of my weaknesses include physical combat and paperwork. Fortunately I have two gods, Cheng Huang and Tu Di Gong who look after Earthly paperwork for me.

  1. Jade Emperor,
Are you considered a god to the Chinese? Or are you just a symbol? You seem powerful considering that you created the universe.

  2. I am considered a god to the Chinese. I don't do much actual work, but I rule with a firm hand. I rule over all the gods and mortal subjects in China. I make sure my gods stay in line and that all my mortal subjects receive the good or bad fortune that they deserve.
